Meet Dr. Tina
Dr. Tina is the founder of Celegant Hair Edmonton — a 4.9★ braiding salon she built from the ground up across two continents.
A PhD in HR Management and former university lecturer, she brings academic teaching discipline to a craft that's rarely taught with real structure.
Her two 2024 masterclasses sold out completely. Ever since, her clients have been asking when she'd open the doors again. This August, she's doing it — and this time, it's free.
The Salon Behind the Masterclass
Celegant Hair Edmonton is the salon behind some of the city's most-loved protective styles — and the team quietly setting a new standard for braiding service in Edmonton.
What started as a husband-and-wife operation in Malaysia in 2014 became Edmonton's go-to braiding studio, with a 4.9★ rating across more than 150 Google reviews. From knotless box braids to passion twists, crochets, dreadlocks, and locs — our daily work is the proof of what we teach.
Today we serve over 150 clients a month with a team of 8 stylists. We've trained staff, mentored new braiders, and watched our clients grow alongside us. This masterclass is how we say thank you — and how we make sure the next generation of braiders has a real foundation to build on.
What Our 2024 Students Say
From two sold-out masterclasses, here's what stayed with them.
I was looking for someone to train me how to braid people's hair as a professional braider in Edmonton, boom I found Celegant Hair Edmonton. My experience with her is a 10/10. She really teaches me all I wanted to know, and more. Thank so much Celegant Hair Edmonton, I'm a confident braider now. I recommend you guys to give give her a try and you won't be disappointed.
With much enthusiasm I'm delighted and honored to give this review about my experience of the 3 days hands on master braiding training session that was held this gone November 29th- December 1st, at the Celegant Hair Edmonton. Honestly it was a game changing situation on my path .Being a Hair Braider/Stylish with 24 years of experience, and being new in Canada , I didn't hesitated to go in for this training. Since sometimes we just need someone to lead , guide and show us the right path. Behold, her style , courage and perfection, is nothing else but a perfect finish. I am recommending to everyone to stop by , get that glimpse of the perfect touch , feelings, achievement and experience as well. Thank you Celegant Hair Edmonton for the achievement and for being part of the team.
I would highly suggest anyone looking to learn the skill of braiding to take the masterclass. It’s very informative and Most definitely worth the price ! The instructor/owner is amazing and it’s a great class!

Frequently Asked
Yes. The 8 hours of hands-on training across both days are completely free. The only cost is your $99 Celegant Practice Kit, which is yours to keep — it includes a wig mannequin head with stand, parting comb, sectioning clips, and braiding hair. You'll need these to participate fully in the hands-on portions, and you'll keep using them long after the masterclass ends.
Your kit will be handed to you at check-in on the morning of your session at Celegant Beauty Salon. There's nothing to pick up beforehand — just arrive 15 minutes early and your kit will be waiting for you with your name on it.
Yes. We offer Afterpay through our Shopify checkout, so you can split your $99 kit into 4 interest-free payments of $24.75. Shop Pay Installments is also available. Just select your preferred payment option at checkout.
Keep it light — please don't bring large bags or luggage as space at the salon is limited. The essentials are: comfortable clothing you can sit and move in for several hours, your hair tied back if it's long, a notebook and pen for the business portion on Day 2, and a refillable water bottle. Everything else — your mannequin, hair, combs, clips — we provide.
Free street parking is available directly in front of Celegant Beauty Salon, with ample space. There are no time restrictions during the day; the only rule is no overnight parking. You won't need to feed a meter or move your car between sessions.
The masterclass is open to anyone aged 10 and older. Attendees aged 10–15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the full duration of both sessions. Attendees aged 16 and over are welcome to attend independently. We love seeing young people learn this craft — many of our 2024 attendees brought their daughters and made it a special weekend together.
This masterclass is designed for complete beginners, self-taught braiders, and intermediate braiders looking to refine their technique. You don't need any prior experience — just an interest in learning. If you're already an advanced professional braider, you'll get the most value from Day 2's business content rather than the technique fundamentals on Day 1.
We get it — life happens. You can request a full refund up to 14 days before the event. Within 14 days, your seat is non-refundable, but you can transfer it to a friend (just let us know their name and contact info). If you can't attend or transfer, your kit will be shipped to you or held at the salon for pickup.
The masterclass is conducted in English. We have a French-speaking staff member available throughout both days to help with clarification and questions, but live demonstrations and group teaching will be in English. If English isn't your first language, you're absolutely welcome — we'll make sure you're supported.
Yes. We'll have a professional videographer capturing footage to use in our online courses and social media content. By attending, you consent to potentially appearing in this footage. If you'd prefer not to be filmed, please let us know at check-in and we'll arrange a seat outside the camera frames.
We'll provide complimentary water and light snacks throughout both sessions to keep your energy up. There's also a short break between teaching blocks where you're welcome to step out for a fuller meal — there are several restaurants nearby, or you're welcome to bring your own. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, just note them in the booking form so we can plan accordingly.
Both days will end with information about how to continue your braiding journey — including our online Foundations course launching in September, and our 8-week Certified Braider cohort program opening later this year.
There's no pressure to enroll in anything. Many of our 2024 attendees chose to continue with us; many didn't, and the masterclass alone gave them everything they needed to start braiding for friends and family. Either path is welcome.
